"Built following the designs of French luthier Jacques Favino, this Gypsy Jazz guitar differs from the original Selmer specifications in several ways. The body is both wider and deeper than other models and this feature along with a lighter bracing pattern gives the instrument a distinct and powerful voice.
This guitar has a standard 13.5 fret neck join in combination with a long scale length making it an appealing guitar for soloists. The unique breathy sound of this Favino influenced design is sure to captivate and inspire."
Modèle Elan
Early 30’s Maccaferri Style Design D Shaped Soundhole 640mm Scale Length 12 Fret Neck Join (12 frets clear of the body, 24 frets total)
"The design of the Modèle Elan is based on the earliest models created by the Selmer Company under the direction of Mario Maccaferri. This instrument utilizes a short scale length in combination with a 12 fret neck join and the ‘grande bouche’ D-shaped soundhole. Tonally, the instrument offers a rich, warm sound with complimentary overtones that are often described as classical in nature. Typically this instrument has been regarded as the rhythm guitar in Gypsy Jazz as its percussive punch offers a solid underpinning for soloists. While some players may find its 12 frets limiting, there should be no mistaking its capabilities as a lead instrument."
